Aethellis entwines punchy, contemporary rhythms with funky guitar, silky synthesizers, passionate vocals, electronic effects and the forms and feel of classic progressive rock. Ellsworth Hall is a North American multi-instrumentalist. The music that’s made by him floats around Classical Rock and Art Rock, but both styles are intrinsically linked, taking advantage of the format's capacity for longer and complex compositions with extended instrumental explorations, where keyboards and electronic textures became indispensable in any rock band. Aethellis developed a musical style where all the range in the compositions are around melancholy sounds of the keyboards, and all vocals are at times, very clean and very soft, other times, highly spiritual, elevating both kind of rock styles to a high level. You really hear a work where the influences follow the same line by musicians and bands as "Alan Parsons", "Rick Wakeman", "Procol Harum" and "Tony Banks", but adding their own musical blends and including special instrumental techniques, and a melodic substance that was heard many times in the years of the 1980s.

With a new EP released in July 2003, entitled The Second Place Confession, Bicycle Thieves have already started to get radio play on DC101 and were recently chosen to play two sets (one acoustic, one electric) at the HFStival, the legendary annual concert at RFK Stadium, sponsored by one of the biggest Alternative rock stations in the country, WHFS. The Washington Post has praised the band's "smart, rocking pop songs" and the band has been garnering more awards and coveted performance slots in the DC area every year. Recent highlights include an upcoming slot at the Fort Reno concert series, which helped launched the careers of bands like Fugazi and Dismemberment Plan, and a grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities towards completion of the band's new EP. Lead singer Jon Kaplan has won the Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies) for Best Alternative Rock vocalist two years in a row and the band was awarded Best Alternative Rock Duo/Group in 2002; they've also been nominated for six Wammies this year. Finally, the band has had music licensed to MTV's "The Real World".

Singers Lorenzo T. Howard, "The Deacon Of Doo-Wop Rock & Roll" and "Reet Petite" Teresa Moore have shared the stage with The Marvelettes, Chubby Checker and Little Anthony. The Crimestoppers have been playing rock n' roll and blues in the Washington, D.C. area since 1981 (yikes - 27 YEARS!) Originally known as "Dick Tracy and the Crimestoppers," the band shortened its name at the urging of an unnamed lawyer-member of the ensemble, who experienced angst about potential copyright infringement litigation in anticipation of the release of the Madonna-Warren Beatty "Dick Tracy" film. The band has played such fabled DC venues as The Gentry, Club Saba, The Roxy, the Wax Museum, Bosco's, the Psychedelly, Friendship Station, and Chaplin's. And they're still going strong in the new century!

DC Motors is a Washington, DC, based band and may be the longest continuously running full-time rock band in the Washington area. The band is now in their 28th year playing an average of 225-300 gigs each year. The band has never broken up, and plays at least 50 weeks a year, 4-6 nights a week. The band usually plays within a 250-mile radius of Washington, DC. The band plays an unusually wide variety of styles, the emphasis is on good songs. Although the band has its own unique style, it is not limited to any one musical style. They tend to play to an audience rather than for, and they encourage audience interaction when appropriate. The band's cover material emphasizes 'get up and dance.' They have a rapid-fire style, with very little time between songs, except for injecting humor and audience interaction. They have excellent 3-part harmony and three strong lead voices. The emphasis is on fun and projecting love. The cover material includes over 450 songs ranging from Beatles, Jimmy Buffett, Grateful Dead, Stones, Motown, alternative and great classic rock from the 60s, 70s, 80s as well as alternative sounds from the 90s and modern and classic country. Washington D.C.'s Whop Frazier has been singing the blues and playing the bass guitar for more than 25 years. He's played just about every bandstand and honky-tonk in the city. He's booked countless gigs around America and abroad. "It was rhythm and blues and jazz, and they could play some rock'n'roll. It was just a good sound and every member of the band has a personality that showed through their faces and their music." Frazier discovered his calling at the age of sixteen, a teenager living it hard in the ghetto. "You gotta live the blues to do the blues, he muses.

Frazier played blues with numerous other musicians, including James Cotton, Junior Wells, and Carey Bell. He also recalls a time when he did a show with Eric Clapton. "Clapton really respects the hell outta the blues, I really envy that guy," Frazier said. "But you see Clapton he's about the closest thing, I think, as far as a white blues artist there is. He been hangin' around those blues artists so much he got that thing goin', that feel." After years of playing in the bands of other musicians, Frazier decided to go solo and assemble a band of his own. "My first album was 'Doing It On My Own'' and it came out pretty good," he said. "'Hand Dance' is my new one. They're all original tunes but three. I had to put "Mustang Sally" on there, you know how that is, and I did "Nite Life" by Willie Nelson--I love that guy."

Originally from Washington, DC, Dave Goodrich studied music at San Francisco State University and provided drum and vocal support to several bands in the Bay Area, performing in such venues as the Berkeley Square, The Chi-Chi Club and Mabuhay Gardens. The original recordings he produced were the first of his work to receive airplay. As a drummer for Mind's i, he also performed in some of DC's hottest venues, such as the 9:30 Club and the Bayou. He has shared bills with many artists such as Jewel (Atlantic), Howie Day (Arista), Sheila Nichols (Hollywood Records), and Angie Aparro. The album 15 Minutes-his current release on BQE Records, LC-has received airplay and a positive critique nationally. It has also gotten placement on television productions aired on MTV, CMT, A&E, and more. Dave earned his reputation with his intricate acoustic guitar work and buttery vocals which complement his intimate, intelligent lyrics. Dave is currently in the midst of recording his upcoming album release World Gone Round while performing solo and with his band, Dave Goodrich & the Soul Retrievers. His song One More Turn was included in an episode of the Travel Channel show Road Trip. Dave is a voting member of the The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (The GRAMMYS).

The basic setup for Hey Norton is a 4-piece group made up of Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, and Saxophone. Other instruments may be added as requested including Harmonica, several styles or percussion add-ons, Electric Piano, additional guitar(s), and special effects. Because of the diversity of the bands' instrumentation, the group's sound is also very diverse. They play everything from Classic R&B to Smooth Jazz. Hey Norton plays favorites from many artists, including Bill Withers, Albert King, Tyrone Davis, The Average White Band, B.B. King, Delbert McClinton, Al Green, and Van Morrison. Hyde Park started in the fall of 2005 and played their first gig in January 2006. Since then, they have played at local clubs and private parties to summer picnics, country clubs, and ski resorts and just about everywhere else in between. Founding members Bassist Bill Vargas and Drummer Tony DeSantis along with Guitarist Jeff Staniszewski and Keyboardist Len  Dobrzyn maintain a level of quality and professionalism that was devised at the inception. Hyde Park recently added two auxiliary members, Ray Mazzarella, in live sound technical support, and Dave Tressa, in lighting support. Hyde Park concentrates on Classic Rock & Roll and R&B but also performs wedding material such as Country, Pop and Wedding music. Playing the hits from Joe Cocker to The Beach Boys, The O'Jays to Toby Keith and Procol Harem to The Doobie Brothers, Hyde Park has created the "good word" about the group. Less Than Zero plays with the "force of Van Halen" and the "raw energy of Green Day". As a modern rock powerhouse, Less Than Zero brings you their Generation X sound via a high energy stage show that features a mix of covers and originals making them a local crowd pleasing favorite. Less Than Zero mixes 80’s New Wave/Pop Metal and 90’s Alternative into a sound they call “Classic Gen X”. Their combination of lyrical pop and over the top guitar work is propelled by jazz/funk infused rhythms and beats. O'Donel (O.D.) Levy was offered scholarships to both the Maryland Institute of Art and Peabody Conservatory. He chose Peabody, and off he went. His professional musical career started like most - he put together a band with Charles Covington (present instructor at Peabody & Howard University), Chester Thompson (present Drummer for Genesis and Phil Collins), and Judd Watkins. O'Donel was the main attraction at the Montreaux Festival, and every year, for decades he has joined Ahmad Jamal and Keter Betts on stage at Blues Alley for The New Year’s Eve Shows. He’s played with the who’s who of blues, jazz, and even soul. He has appeared with the late great Miles Davis, and stood beside Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy McGriff, Jack McDuff. If he hasn’t played with them, he has written music for them. He’s written stuff for Luther Vandross, Sarah Vaughn, and his friend, Herbie Mann.

He now performs R&B, Jazz, Blues, and Soul.

Sam “The Muleman” Miller has been entertaining the Baltimore & Washington areas since he moved here from Tampa Florida. You may have originally known him as that extraordinary guitar player from The Big Dog Band, but now you can listen to him doing his own thing in The Muleman Band. This blue-eyed soul singer with a screaming guitar has been inspired to create his own “Southern Fried” recipe of musical flavors. The Muleman Band Plays tunes from Jimi Hendrix to Stevie Ray Vaughn to his own compositions. His original tunes prove that the blues is not always sad, but can also incorporate a sly sense of humor. Mid-Atlantic singer-songwriter Linda Nelson uses strong, sultry alto, as well as her from-the-heart songs of love, loss and hope. There's a southern feel that comes through the softness and soul of her music and her style leans towards rhythm and blues, and country soul.

Linda began writing songs soon after getting her first guitar at the age of 15. She grew musically by way of song, one teaching the next. She began performing with local bands before becoming a solo artist after moving to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was there that her unique style began to emerge.

After she returned to Maryland, Linda continued to work on her craft as a songwriter until she eventually made the decision to record her recently released her first CD "Waterdance." Since the release of her CD her focus has been on performing, doing opening spots at The Birchmere for Steve Forbert as well as the Rams Head on Stage for Warren Zevon.

Celebrating 18 years in the Baltimore Washington music scene, The Persuaders bring all of the sounds of New Orleans with them wherever they play. The Persuaders bring a strong combination of Rock & Roll (a la Fats Domino & Professor Longhair), Rhythm & Blues (a la Frankie Ford & Chris Kenner) and hard driving blues with even a little jazz to their performance. However, it was her love for Motown and Soul that were her major desires, and her mentor, even to this date, is Gladys Knight. She is currently the featured artist of The Rich Chorne Allstars. She has also worked with some of the Mid-Atlantic region’s top blues and/or R&B artists such as Tommy Lepson, Ron Holloway, Tom Principato, The Persuaders, and Choo Choo Charlie Williams & The Spitfires.

Nadine has played many venues throughout the region. In the 90's, she performed at venues such as The Zanzibar, Bangkok Blues, Fasika's in Adams Morgan, The Saloon Blues Bar, The Zoo Bar, and Charley's in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Nadine has performed on stages such as The Rams Head On-Stage in Annapolis, Maryland, The Calvin Simmons Auditorium...

The Remnants - Never takes the audience for granted and consequently, the band's shows are "pretty whooped up. It's a very live, live show." The group performs roots rock with a pop influence that sounds like The Replacements. The band performs mostly originals, but the audience has something to say about their playlist. Whether you remember him from Banging Rush, bONEhEAD, The Little River Band, The few months with Never Never, or his solo career, Tony Sciuto has always made his listeners his friends. Tony always felt the need to be a musician and commenced writing his own songs at the age of 11. Two years after that, he was pursued by (N.Y.) Beatles manager Nat Weiss at a "Battle Of The Bands" in Baltimore, followed by winning various categories of the "American Song Festival" in 1975/76. Tony soon established a fruitful songwriting collaboration with fellow composer Sammy Egorin. 1978 saw the popular Bay City Rollers record one of Tony's songs for their Dedication album, the track "My Lisa". As a touring bassist/vocalist with Washington D.C. artist Deanna Bogart (Shanachie Records) and Austin, TX artist Trish Murphy (Universal Records), Eric has performed on numerous stages throughout Europe, Canada, and the entire United States which landed him on stages with artists as diverse as James Brown, B.B. King, and Ray Charles to Kansas, Little Feat, and The Neville Brothers. SEVENTH HOUSE: THE 60's EXPERIENCE is a baby boomer’s dream band that combines 60's rock with 60's soul. The band performs only 60's songs recorded between 1961 and 1969. Within that period, they focus on the following three categories of music (1) British Invasion (including US bands that were copying this style) (2) Late 60's early-psychedelic songs & (3) 60's soul music.

It was Baltimore’s soul tenors that made people stand up and take notice all over the U.S. and one of the city’s best was Frankie & The Spindles. This “Motown Revue Band”, now known as The Spindles, is back in demand. They have shared the stage with The Chi-Lites, The Dells, The Delphonics, The Intruders, Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes, The O’Jays, The Stylistics and The Temptations. Stravagant is a band of four famous rock stars from 1,000 years in the future returning back to our time, the time in which the seeds of evil were first sown into the music industry. Subway was formed in the 1960's by Terry Lewis, and they’ve been rocking ever since. Featuring a repertoire that ranges from Little Richard to Keith Richards, Subway has entertained across several generations. Subway is West Virginia's most talented and accomplished oldies and beach music band. They are 2001 Honorary Inductees into the Beach Music Hall-of-Fame. Subway is a band that can perform in any setting: clubs, festivals, weddings, fairs, and anywhere else people want to have a good time. They were once called “West Virginia’s number one party band” by a reviewer. You have not experienced anything until Subway makes it possible for you to travel back in time to the 50's, 60's and 70's. Subway has the stage presence, costuming, music library, equipment, experience and the passion to get your crowd on their feet and into the groove.

Totally Confused & The Totally Hot Horns - Totally Confused is an eight piece band based in Baltimore MD. The band plays a mix of Swing, Jump Blues and Motown. Totally Confused has appeared locally and regionally for eleven years at clubs, concerts, weddings and other private functions. Totally Confused was founded eleven years ago and has played gigs (good for musicians, bad for frogs) from upstate New York to Southern Virginia to Kentucky. Some of the more notable highlights was backing Dan Aykroyd, as "The Blues Brothers Band", in a performance in Northern Virginia, and a feature article in Music Monthly (Maryland Musician Magazine). Totally Confused has been playing this Swing Thing ever since the incorporation of the horns 7 years ago.

The Winstons is a self-contained band based out of Washington, D.C. that has worked major concert venues all over the country including The World Famous Apollo Theatre in New York City, Symphony Hall in Newark NJ, The Greek Theatre in L.A., The Fifth Regiment Armory and The Lyric Opera House in Baltimore MD, and Constitution Hall in Washington DC. The band was formed by Jumpin’ Joe Phillips, former band director or lead guitarist for The Delfonics, The Stylistics, Eddie Holman, The Chi-Lites, and Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes.
